Windy Edinburgh takes its toll.

A large branch from the ash tree (Fraximus excelsior) near the centre gate, broke off on Monday 16th July and badly damaged the lilac tree (Syringa vulgaris). Speedy work by the Parks Dept and the tree surgeons cleared up the mess. There was no obvious reason why the branch broke off except the wind and it was fortunate that no-one was hurt.wind 1 wind 3wind 2wind 4
This is what is left of our poor lilac but we have been promised it will recover in time.
